Xaviera Piloto Alberto Ardila// Family appeals for help as fire destroys home

The Diego Martin home of T&T Guardian’s newspaper sellers, Nicole Edwards, 32, her brother, Nigel and five other family members has been destroyed by fire.Edwards’ 14-year-old son was at home when he heard a loud explosion on Friday.

The incident occurred at about 11.15 am.

“I was working when I got the call. I was so shocked. We believe that it was deliberately set because there was an ongoing family dispute not with my family but another family that we live close-by too,” Edwards said.

“He just ran outside and within seconds the front part of the house was already on fire.

I will like to get any sort of assistance I can. The structure burned down to nothing. Nothing was saved or salvaged. It?s not to say like I can put up a roof. Everything burn, down to the children?s school books.?

Edwards has been selling Guardian’s newspapers along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway at Macoya for the past six years, while her brother, Nigel has been selling for the past four years at the Curepe intersection.

Anyone willing to assist Edwards can contact her at 357-8518.
