PORT ANTONIO, Portland — The driver of the ill-fated minibus that plunged into a ravine on May 21, killing 13-year-old Titchfield High School student Pranjal Justi Kumar and injuring 23 others has been charged with three counts in relation to the incident. Deputy Superintendent in charge of Portland Duane Wellington disclosed at the Portland Municipal Meeting yesterday that bus driver Oshane McPherson is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, excess passengers and having no insurance coverage.

He appeared in the Port Antonio Parish Court on Wednesday.

“He was arrested and charged and offered bail at the sum of $300,000 to return to court on September 11 on the condition that he does not drive another public passenger vehicle until this case is tried and completed,” said DSP Wellington
Kumar’s parents, who are from India, returned home with his body for burial shortly after the incident. The boy’s father is a doctor at the Annotto Bay Hospital
